The Tampa Bay Rays are identified to decorate up in funky outfits throughout their themed street journeys — like when they went camouflage or dressed up as nerds.
But ace pitcher David Price’s Wednesday get-up is strange even by these requirements. He threw a bullpen session in full soccer uniform — helmets, pads and everything. The uniform, after all, is from his alma mater Vanderbilt College.
Vandy performs its opening sport of the college soccer season on Thursday, on ESPN no less, so this was Value’s means of giving a shout out to his Commodore brethren. Value tweeted this earlier:

Of course, with the mounting issues about pitchers getting hit in the head by line drives — take, as an illustration Worth’s teammate Alex Cobb — sporting pads and a football helmet might not be all that unusual for pitchers in the future.
