(USA Right now Sports activities Images) “Don’t knock it ‘til you try it” apparently isn’t the mantra of Giants owner Steve Tisch relating to quality NFL programming.
Approached on the street by TMZ (critically), Tisch was requested — after a foolish Eli Manning rap-career query — whether his staff ever would be featured on HBO’s award-successful “Hard Knocks” program.
Tisch metaphorically doused the questioner with a bucket of chilly water.
“I don’t think it brings something to the group,” Tisch instructed TMZ. “It’s so not about who we are. It’s not who Tom Coughlin is. It’s not who ownership is. I don’t suppose it’s within the players’ finest interest.”
Tisch doesn’t need “Hard Knocks” to be canned solely. It’s just not for his esteemed Giants. The lowly Bengals and, ahem, Jets are free to do what they want.
“It’s fun to watch. I enjoy watching the Bengals, the Jets and other groups do it,” Tisch stated. “It’s really not in our tradition, I feel.”
Roger Goodell would possibly make it in Tisch’s and the Giants’ culture, if he has his way. The commish needs to arrange some form of formal rotation — assume much like the London Video games, possibly — the place each workforce is featured.
New York Giants owner Steve Tisch won’t have his team on ‘Hard Knocks’ anytime soon
