Here’s the final word proof that very giant world class athletes have been once young athletes similar to you or I … except still quite monumental.
This is Wilt Chamberlain’s fourth grade class. He was already quite giant — Twitter
The photograph you see above, which was magically dug up by Sports Illustrated photograph vault curator Andy Grey, depicts the fourth grade class at Brooks Elementary Faculty in 1945. That specific class included one Wilt Chamberlain, who would go on to be one of the crucial dominant basketball players of all-time.
If you possibly can’t decide Wilt out in that picture, you’re either A) blind, or B) have forgotten that by the time he reached the NBA, he stood 7-foot tall.
What’s most wonderful about this photograph isn’t simply that it exists, although that is exceptional in itself. Somewhat, it’s that at age 9, Wilt was already a monster. He is almost twice the dimensions of some of his classmates in this picture (take a look at the lady in the entrance row on the far left). That’s absolutely ridiculous.
Of course, Chamberlain turned out to be one ridiculous basketball participant and human being, largely in a good way. Now we all know he did not have to attend long to comprehend he was probably at all times going to be bigger than everyone else.
