Calvin Johnson getting a touchdown taken away from him in Week 1 on a goofy replay reversal.. it is a custom not like some other.
In 2010, Johnson had a landing taken away in opposition to the Bears in a play so controversial, it spawned the reason “The Calvin Johnson Rule” for any touchdown that is not a landing because the receiver doesn’t end the catch. That play value the Lions a win (and still, to today, it is a baffling name).
On Sunday in opposition to Minnesota, it regarded like Johnson had a sure landing. He made an excellent diving catch. For fantasy house owners who dealt with Johnson being continuously tackled on the 1-yard line final year, it was a nice approach to start the season. There was no query watching it in actual time that it was a landing. Then the officers went to the replay sales space.
And then they ruled it wasn’t a touchdown.
Oh, say it ain’t so.
Johnson ended up stretching the ball and apparently misplaced management as he cradled the ball going to the bottom, negating his touchdown.
Yep, the Calvin Johnson Rule. The call was reversed regardless that it looked like an amazing play and a positive landing, Johnson had his first landing taken off the board, and his response was understandable – a pissed off smile that appeared to say “Again?”
Yeah, Megatron. Again.
Calvin Johnson has a touchdown taken away from him on a weird replay ruling (again)
