There’s quite a bit
Ryan Mathews
has but to accomplish in what has been a disappointing career to date. However now he can cross one off that listing.
Mathews helped the San Diego Chargers march down in a surprising opening drive — heh, we kid: it was one play after a fast Matt Schaub INT — with the primary landing catch of his career.
Yep. After 38 video games and 111 grabs, Mathews crossed the plane of the top zone through the pass for the primary time in the NFL. Mathews has scored 14 speeding touchdowns, however for a player who has averaged almost three receptions per game, the fact that he hadn’t scored by the air was a bit shocking. But Mathews appeared spry early, which is an efficient thing for the Chargers.
Maybe the start of a breakout season? Hey, one sport at a time.
