Houston Texans running back Cierre Wooden played at Notre Dame last season, which normally wouldn’t be that interesting in a NFL locker room.
But, Wooden picked an attention-grabbing 12 months to be at Notre Dame, with the Manti Te’o story and all.
[We’ll assume you do not forget that debacle, about Te’o believing he had a girlfriend, then it turned out she didn’t exist. A Deadspin story exposed the hoax, which Te’o had no half in orchestrating regardless of cries to the contrary when the story got here out. Since then Te’o has been the punchline for tens of millions of unfunny jokes. (Severely people, should you’re nonetheless using Te’o faux girlfriend jokes, please work on your routine.)
NFL players are like the remainder of us, and it isn’t stunning that Wood was asked about Te’o not lengthy after the Texans signed him as an undrafted free agent.
“All people asks me about Te’o,” Wood advised CSNHouston.com. “That was simply something I expected was going to occur. I acquired asked on the street a couple times, so I anticipated it in the locker room.”
It seems that Wooden actually has a good story to tell when he’s asked. He had some contact with Te’o"s girlfriend. Type of.
He said he heard a number of the conversations, and even took the chance to say whats up once.
“It was alongside the traces of, if I got here in here with a goldfish and said, ‘Hey, this is my goldfish, Larry.’ You guys are going to go, ‘OK. So what?’” Wood mentioned on Monday. “You go home after that. I might come over to ask for a controller and he could be like, ‘I’m simply gonna talk to my girl.’ I looked on the computer screen or no matter and it was clean. I really don’t care. I simply heard somebody speaking to me … ‘I just need to introduce myself. Hi. I’m Cierre. How are you doing? Nice to meet you.’ And I went on about my business.”
So there you go. But please, no Te’o jokes. They’re lame.
